A Dial-Up connection uses a standard modem to let you "dial-up" your ISP each time you want to connect to the Internet. At the conclusion of a session, you "disconnect" from the Internet. Dial-up connections are one connection per computer, typically over a standard telephone line, and serve the purpose of providing Internet access for surfing, email, file transfer, etc.
